Gary Danielson missed? Fans, media discuss new CBS crew calling Ole Miss-Alabama

Gary Danielson was at a Big Ten game on Saturday, and SEC fans weren’t sure how to handle it. Many, in fact, missed Danielson and his broadcast partner Brad Nessler.
Alabama, Ole Miss and SEC fans in general were a bit lost on Saturday without Danielson on the “SEC on CBS” broadcast.
With Danielson set to call Iowa at Penn State, the CBS crew was Tom McCarthy, Jason McCourty and Ross Tucker, a new team assembled this season, with sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon.
Danielson is often criticized during the weekly 3:30 p.m. ET games on CBS as fans suggest his has a bias toward Alabama, or makes mistakes referring to key players. Danielson has kept it in stride, though, and understands opinions are a part of college football.
Here’s a sample of the reactions:
Is Stephen A Smith calling the Alabama game? (Please don’t take this to mean that I miss Gary Danielson, because I do not)

I don’t know who these clowns calling the Bama Ole miss game are, but Gary Danielson not being in the booth for this one is an abomination.

Never thought I’d say this, but these guys on #CBS are actually making me miss Gary Danielson. I’m going to have to mute this. #MISSvsBAMA #RollTide

Watching an SEC on CBS game without Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson feels… wrong

Everyone was confused why Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson were calling Iowa-Penn St instead of Ole Miss-Bama. Now the reason is clear. Even Gary knew there was no way he be an SEC sunshine pumper watching this game.

It’s great for us SEC fans. We don’t have to listen to Gary Danielson have a love fest over Alabama

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t feel like a big game w/o Nessler and Danielson.#CBS #SEC #GaryDanielson #BradNessler

Can’t listen to these second stringers calling an SEC game on CBS. Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson doing Big 10 won’t cut it.
