Gene Chizik receives mountains of criticism amid another woeful defensive effort for UNC

Gene Chizik and the North Carolina defense is off to a rough start this season. The Tar Heels last week gave up 984 yards in a 63-61 victory over Appalachian State. That came after UNC gave up 335 yards in a 56-24 victory over Florida A&M.
This time, fans and media are after the UNC defensive coordinator as the Tar Heels are leading just 35-28 midway through the fourth quarter against Georgia State, a team that pushed South Carolina for a while last week. The Panthers have more than 400 total yards and 21 first downs in the game. Most notably, Georgia State has 231 rushing yards.
Perhaps most alarming is that the Tar Heels gave up a pair of 98-yard drives in consecutive weeks to Sun Belt opponents.
Here’s a sampling of some of the reaction to Chizik and the defense:
Unprepared, unorganized, and undisciplined. 3 games in and I am unimpressed with Gene Chizik’s return.

UNC could be playing A&T and the game would be tied 42-42 with 3 minutes left in the game
Fire Gene Chizik

Not able to follow this one live at all, but stunning when one considers that Gene Chizik is Carolina’s defensive coordinator. What the heck? https://t.co/l7Fk9Z35Zc

I should’ve just put all my money on UNC overs this year. Fading a Gene Chizik defense is more profitable than the S&P 500 these days. #UNC #chizik

I can’t blame all of this on Gene Chizik. The defense has to be ready to go on the field. That’s not all coaching.

Wow UNC ? … and their defense was supposed to be better under Gene Chizik? Yikes!!

Gene Chizik still being employed by UNC after last week is hilariously bad and def something you can blame on Mack Brown
