Georgia basketball announces special Rose Bowl ticket giveaway

Georgia men’s basketball coach Mark Fox makes no secret of his involvement with the football program, and he’s often on the home sideline during games in Sanford Stadium.
But this week, Fox announced a special ticket giveaway at Tuesday’s Winthrop game for two lucky students who would receive one ticket each to the Rose Bowl, where the football team will play Oklahoma.
While it appears students would still need to pony up for airfare and other expenses like a hotel room for the game on Jan. 1 in the College Football Playoff, this represents a value of at least a few hundred dollars.
Lost in much of the excitement around the football program, Fox and the basketball Bulldogs are off to a 6-1 start. Perhaps this is a strategy to drum up higher attendance for a week-night game against a 5-3 Winthrop team.
The students who are fortunate enough to land the tickets may be in friendly company in Pasadena as all indications are that Georgia should have plenty of fans.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit said on Twitter that he was hearing from people at the Rose Bowl who told him Georgia fans were “coming in full force” for the semifinal.
Georgia fans have consistently filled opponent stadiums this season, from Notre Dame, to Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and it appears that trend will continue.
