Georgia pledge Ryan Montgomery shared unfortunate news on Monday. The next football game he plays will be with the Bulldogs.
Montgomery, a highly-rated quarterback recruit out of Findlay (Ohio) High School, revealed that his senior season is over early due to an ACL injury that requires surgery.
“I am heartbroken to announce I will miss the rest of my Senior football season with my teammates and coaches due to an ACL injury that requires surgery,” Montgomery wrote in a note posted to social media.
“To my teammates – enjoy every minute! Know that I will do whatever I can coaching wise to assist this season. To my coaches – thanks for everything you have done for me. Thanks to the entire Findlay community for all the support. God has a plan for me and I know he is just strengthening my faith. I am going to continue to just trust in the Lord as he will always have my back. I look forward to a full recovery and the next chapter of my life at The University of Georgia. God’s got me. #Isaiah41:10”
Montgomery’s listed measurements are 6-3 and 215 pounds. He is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 player in the state of Ohio, No. 9 quarterback and No. 77 prospect overall in the Class of 2025 on the 247Sports Composite.
During his recruitment, Montgomery drew widespread interest. He picked up scholarship offers from 27 programs, including Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Montgomery verbally pledged to play for UGA on May 31. Judging by his above note, Montgomery is firm in his commitment to Kirby Smart’s program.
Georgia has 4 scholarship quarterbacks on its current roster: Carson Beck, Gunner Stockton, Jaden Rashada and Ryan Puglisi. Beck is expected to enter the NFL Draft after the 2024 season, his fifth year in the program. Stockton is a redshirt sophomore in 2024, while Rashada is a redshirt freshman and Puglisi is a true freshman.
