Before Georgia even learned its bowl assignment, senior cornerback DJ Daniel was among the reported Bulldog opt-outs. On Wednesday, he officially declared for the NFL Draft.

Daniel shared a graphic on his Twitter account with a note announcing his plans:

“First and foremost, I want to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the ability to play this beautiful game of football. Without his grace, I would not be in the position I am today.

“To my family, thank you to all of those who had a hand in molding into the man I am today! The support you have showed throughout this process has been amazing. I am grateful to have each of you in my life. Ma, it wasn’t always easy, but we made it work with what we had. You stayed on me day in and day out because you knew that I was capable of anything if I just believed and put in the work!

“To my teammates, thank you! Everyday we came to work, you guys pushed me to be at my best. You all are truly my brothers, and the relationships that I have gained with each of you won’t be forgotten!

“To my coaches and strength staff, thank you for pouring a lot of time and energy into making me not only a better athlete but a better man. The knowledge I gained from each of you will help me as I move on to this next chapter.

“To the fans of University of Georgia, my second home, the moment I stepped on campus I felt the love and passion you have for Georgia football. Thank you for always supporting me and being the best fans in college football. It made every game in Sanford Stadium unforgettable.

“As a kid I always dreamed of playing in the NFL. After much prayer and thought, I have decided to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.”

Daniel joined UGA in 2019 as a JUCO transfer. In two seasons, he played in 21 games for the Dawgs, recording 51 total tackles, including 3 TFL, and 9 passes defended.
