In a day full of big announcements for Georgia, the Bulldogs landed one more in the form of a 5-star defensive end.

Brenton Cox chose Georgia over Alabama in an announcement he made on Wednesday. Cox, an Under Armour All-American, is from Stockbridge, Ga. where he’s the No. 5 overall prospect in the state. Cox is rated as the No. 2 strong-side end in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Cox is the No. 22 prospect in the country. He has received offers from most major schools, including Ohio State, where he was once committed, Auburn and Clemson — in addition to his offers from Alabama and Georgia.

Cox’s pledge with Georgia gave the Bulldogs six 5-star players in this class, including offensive linemen Cade Mays and Jamaree Salyer, who made announcements earlier in the day.

Cox is 6-foot-4 1/2 and 247 pounds.
