It will be almost four years until Jashawn Sheffield plays his first college football game. But two SEC teams have already offered him a scholarship.

Georgia offered Sheffield a scholarship a few hours before the Bulldogs faced Georgia Southern in Athens.

“I love it,” Sheffield told SEC Country while standing on the sideline at Sanford Stadium. “I’m just happy to have my second offer.”

Sheffield is a freshman at Frederica Academy, a private school in St. Simons Island, Ga. He is already 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. He plays running back, wide receiver and defensive back for the Knights. He is averaging 8.9 yards per carry for Frederica.

He spoke highly of Georgia and its football program.

“I could see myself playing there,” he said. “I think it’s a very good school.”

Sheffield got his first offer from Tennessee last weekend.
