Georgia QB D’Wan Mathis tweets for first time since emergency surgery to remove brain cyst

Last week, Georgia freshman QB D’Wan Mathis had emergency surgery to remove a cyst on his brain, spending some time in the ICU.

He was reportedly moved out of the ICU on Saturday, and on Monday, he issued his first statement since undergoing the surgery.

As you can see below, Mathis tweeted his appreciation to Georgia fans and said he can’t wait to play football again:

There’s no timeline for Mathis’s return just yet, as getting him fully healthy is the main concern for everyone involved.

Mathis was a 4-star quarterback in the 2019 class. Per the 247Sports composite, he was the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in his class and the No. 9 overall recruit from Michigan.
