It took one game in the 2024 college football season for chaos to take place, as Georgia Tech upset No. 10 Florida State 24-21 in Dublin.
After missing a 52-yard field goal early in the game, kicker Aidan Burr hit a 44-yard field goal as time expired to send the Yellow Jackets to their biggest win in a decade. The win snapped a streak of 15 consecutive victories for Florida State as a double-digit favorite and ended the Seminoles’ 12-game winning streak against fellow ACC teams.

Georgia Tech was 0-15 in its previous 15 games against AP Top 10 teams. Saturday’s victory marks the first win against a top-10 team since the Yellow Jackets defeated then-No. 9 Florida State, 22-16, in 2015 in one of the most dramatic finishes in college football history.
The Yellow Jackets were one of the best offensive teams in the conference last year, but their defense wasn’t good enough to compete. On Saturday, it was a completely different story as the Yellow Jackets held Florida State to just 5 yards per play and controlled the line of scrimmage.
Quarterback Haynes King threw for only 146 yards, but made big plays for the Yellow Jackets by rushing the ball 15 times for 54 yards.
It was a tough game for the Seminoles, as the DJ Uiagalelei era got off to a bad start. He finished the game 19-of-27 for 193 yards, but the lack of big plays down the field made it tough for the Seminoles to move the ball consistently.
Georgia Tech will look to build off this win next week as the Yellow Jackets host Georgia State. Florida State, on the other hand, will be looking for its first win of 2024 when it hosts Boston College on Sept. 2.
