Both Georgia and Florida are coming off byes ahead of this Saturday’s showdown in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, so both squads should be well-rested and ready for action.
That means Georgia’s unstoppable force (the running game) and Florida’s immovable object (the defense) are set to collide in an important SEC East game.
In order to get the most out of Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and the other Georgia running backs, coach Kirby Smart told Macon.com that it’s important to maintain a balanced offensive attack:
“I think you have to start with balance,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said. “I think that every defense is going to take away what you do best, so you can’t let them do that. They’re good in pass defense because they’ve got really good DBs. They’ve got two corners that you could argue are probably the best tandem in the country. They get out there and press you. We’ve got to be able to run the ball. If you can run the ball, then you create situations where they have to put extra guys in the box.”
The Bulldogs’ offensive line is also going to be key to Georgia’s success. If Chubb and Michel are getting hit behind the line of scrimmage every play, it might be a long day for the Bulldogs.
Check out Saturday’s rivalry game on CBS at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
