Gervon Dexter Sr. selected in second round of 2023 NFL Draft

Gervon Dexter Sr. is off the board. Dexter was picked by the Chicago Bears with the No. 53 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Out of Lake Wales, Florida, Dexter was rated 5-stars and the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Florida in November 2018 and signed with UF over 29 other scholarship offers. Dexter begins his professional career after 3 seasons with the Gators.
Dexter posted more than 50 tackles and 4 TFLs in each of the last 2 seasons. He finished with 125 tackles (9.5 TFL) and 4.5 sacks for his career over 38 games. Dexter posted 9 tackles in a game twice in the 2021 season in losses to Alabama and UCF.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Dexter measured 6-6, 310 pounds. He clocked a 4.88-second 40-yard dash, 1.81-second 10-yard split and 3-cone drill time of 7.5 seconds. He logged a 31-inch vertical jump, 9-foot, 2-inch broad jump and 22 bench press reps. Dexter’s athleticism score ranked 10th among defensive tackles.
