Greg McElroy sees Mizzou stumbling for the first time in 2024 on Saturday.

Coming off an impressive 2023 season with a New Year’s Six bowl win, Mizzou entered 2024 with high expectations as a College Football Playoff contender. The Tigers are undefeated entering Week 6, but underdogs on the road against a 1-loss Texas A&M squad.

Heading into Saturday’s conference clash, No. 9 Mizzou and No. 25 Texas A&M are seen as evenly matched. An Aggie win would be an upset from a rankings perspective, but the latest FanDuel Sportsbook line has Texas A&M favored by 2.5 points. ESPN’s Football Power Index, on the other hand, leans Mizzou, giving the Tigers a 51.5% chance of leaving College Station with the win.

McElroy spotlighted the game on Thursday’s edition of Always College Football. After breaking down a few key matchups, McElroy shared that he likes Texas A&M to hand Mizzou’s its first loss of the season.

“I’ll take the Aggies,” McElroy said. “I’m not sold on Missouri’s defensive improvements just yet; I think their numbers are a bit of smoke and mirrors, inflated because they’ve yet to face a team anywhere near as much talent as what Texas A&M will have on the field.”

Mizzou’s 4 wins are over Murray State (51-0), Buffalo (38-0), Boston College (27-21) and Vanderbilt (30-27). Texas A&M dropped its season-opener against Notre Dame (23-13), but is on a 4-game winning streak with victories against McNeese (52-10), Florida (33-20), Bowling Green (26-20) and Arkansas (21-17).

Saturday’s ranked showdown is set for a noon ET kickoff, with the game airing on ABC.
