Gus Malzahn was let go by Auburn this past offseason. However, he wasn’t out of a job for long, as he quickly landed the head coaching gig at UCF.

But, after several weather delays on Thursday night, UCF’s 2021 opener at home against Boise State didn’t get off to a good start.

Early in the second quarter, Boise State scored a touchdown to take a 21-0 lead. The Knights quickly scored to cut the lead to 21-7, but the Broncos remained firmly in control of the game.

That lone score didn’t do much to allay fan distress.

Fans were regretting buying tickets on the Gus Bus as the first half wore on. Check out some of the best responses to the Knights’ struggles on social media below:

The good news for Malzahn? There’s still plenty of time to get things back on track in the second half. We’ll see what happens after the intermission.
