Hall of Famer John Clayton reacts to ESPN exit with some brilliant tweets
If you missed the news, ESPN no longer employs longtime NFL reporter John Clayton. The senior NFL writer joined the network in 1995 and has become popular for his video segments featured on SportsCenter and ESPN’s various NFL programming. Clayton is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as he has been enshrined in the writer’s wing of the Canton, Ohio museum.
Clayton took to Twitter Wednesday to confirm the news. The SportCenter mainstay remained positive, despite the bad news thrown his way by ESPN. Credit to the Hall of Fame writer, as he went out thanking his former co-workers on his way out the door.
I guess you saw the news. After 23 years I won’t be contributing to ESPN. Two words. Thank you. My bosses and co-workers are the best.

Fortunately, Clayton will keep his ESPN radio job in Seattle.
I am well taken care of by ESPN. I have daily show on 710 ESPN Seattle 10 to 12 pacific. I fill in on Sirius on moving the chains.

Clayton also made a reference to his amazing SportsCenter commercial.

There’s no doubt, Clayton is a pro’s pro in the world of football coverage.
I can honestly say that my relationship with ESPN was the second best in my life. My marriage to my wife Pat is obviously No. 1.

Thanks for all the nice comments today. The only things that is sad is not having my daily interaction with my co-workers at ESPN
