Spring football is drawing closer for most college football programs. That also means a litany of way-too-early Top 25 lists are just around the corner.
During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up on Thursday, Heather Dinich provided her own. She has the defending champion Hoosiers behind 2 teams that didn’t even make the College Football Playoff last season — Notre Dame at No. 2, and Texas at No. 1.
The Longhorns are 1 of 5 SEC teams that appear in Dinich’s top 10. She also has LSU (13th) and Alabama (17th) in her ranking.
Jordan Rodgers argued with Dinich about Alabama’s placement, specifically related to Penn State, and said the Crimson Tide should be closer to the top 10. Dinich said 17 might actually be “too high” for the Tide.
“That’s a generous spot for Alabama right now,” she said. “No running game, so many questions, including, ‘Who’s your starting quarterback?’ … Penn State has an answer there at least.”
Though Texas tops Dinich’s own ranking, the Longhorns aren’t the favorites to win the SEC next year. That honor belongs to Georgia, which has a 29% chance at Kalshi. Texas (27%) comes in second place followed distantly by Alabama (18%) and Ole Miss (16%).
Kalshi lists LSU as having a 10% chance to win the SEC in its first season under Lane Kiffin. Dinich seems to be more bullish.
