For years, Henry Ruggs III has been hyped by many as the fastest player in the nation during his three seasons in Tuscaloosa. Now the former Alabama receiver will have the opportunity to prove it at the 2020 NFL Combine.

Ruggs is set to run the 40-yard dash on Thursday in Indianapolis and the former Alabama standout was not shy in stating his goal for the 2020 NFL Combine.

In an interview with CBS Sports HQ, Ruggs was asked to comment on his anticipated run by Danny Kanell of CBS Sports:

Ruggs: “My goal is to be the fastest ever.”

Kanell: “4.22?”

Ruggs: “Yes sir.”

Considering all the hype Ruggs has received over the years, it would almost be a disappointment if the receiver didn’t break the combine’s 40-yard dash record. That’s quite the statement to make but Ruggs isn’t backing down from his desire to be the fastest man to ever line up in Indianapolis and will soon have the opportunity to prove that he is just that.

Here’s the interview clip featuring Ruggs from CBS Sports HQ:
