The Auburn Tigers picked up their first SEC win of the season on Saturday afternoon, knocking off the Arkansas Razorbacks by a final score of 33-24 in come-from-behind fashion on the road in Fayetteville.
One of the biggest sparks for the Tigers that led to the massive comeback against the Hogs was Hugh Freeze‘s decision to bench quarterback Jackson Arnold at the end of the first half following a brutal pick-6.
Senior backup and Stanford Cardinal transfer Ashton Daniels helped guide Auburn to victory in the second half, but Freeze said after the game that he wasn’t ready just yet to name Daniels the starter moving forward.
Freeze after the game that he wants to “watch the film” from the game before making any sort of decision on who his starter will be under center next week against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Arnold has struggled all season long, but Freeze isn’t about to pull his job permanently if he isn’t positive that it’s the correct move to make.
Auburn and Kentucky will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night next week.
