Hugh Freeze gives injury updates on multiple key players after South Alabama game
Hugh Freeze is happy to be 3-0 after Saturday’s fairly easy victory over South Alabama, but the Auburn head coach unfortunately had to discuss some injuries to key players in the postgame press conference.
His 24th-ranked Tigers might have gotten through the Week 3 nonconference tilt with relative ease, but that doesn’t mean Auburn came out of the game unscathed as it gets ready for the SEC gauntlet. And that gauntlet begins next Saturday with a visit to No. 13 Oklahoma, with quarterback Jackson Arnold making his much-anticipated return to Norman.
But that’s all for next Saturday, and there will be plenty to talk about next week. For now, Freeze spoke to reporters about Saturday’s 31-15 win and the players who suffered injuries.
There was defensive end Amaris Williams, who separated his shoulder. However, there was a positive slant on the injury.
“It went right back in,” said Hugh Freeze, who noted that the injury will have to be monitored going forward.
There was cornerback Jay Crawford, who went knee-to-knee with a South Alabama player and had to leave the game. Finally, there was wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., who suffered a hip pointer in the victory.
The injuries will surely be updated in the days ahead, as Auburn dusts itself off and gets ready for the journey to Norman and the return of Arnold in a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.
