Hugh Freeze’s Auburn contract included social media agreement, per report

Hugh Freeze reportedly won’t be tweeting during his Auburn coaching tenure.
Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated included an interesting tidbit on the Freeze hire in his Monday column:
Multiple sources say Freeze has agreed to relinquish control of his social media accounts when he becomes the Auburn coach. The background check on Freeze was extensive, and the school hired a P.R. consultant to handle the expected blowback in bringing him aboard. They are jumping through a lot of hoops for Freeze.
As AL.com noted there was an indication from daughter Ragan Freeze Reynolds that the coach was not on Twitter Monday night.
@CoachHughFreeze is not on twitter right now- but he is so grateful for the best 4 years on the Mountain and to all who have played a part in this journey. This place has changed our lives and we are forever thankful. Go Flames! https://t.co/B7ydzCzJqs

Monday, Freeze’s Twitter account quote-tweeted Auburn’s announcement and a congratulatory message from Gus Malzahn.

Freeze has been known to use Twitter to fire back at critical fans and media members over the years. He also shared praise for Lane Kiffin’s approach to social media.
Earlier this year, Freeze was criticized for allegedly sending direct messages on Twitter to a woman who identified herself as a sexual assault victim in a high-profile case against Liberty University. Chelsea Andrews, who put “LU ‘15 Sr. Class President & Jane Doe 7,” in her Twitter bio, posted a screenshot of an apparent unsolicited direct message from Freeze.
Andrew writes about sports to fund his love of live music and collection of concert posters. He strongly endorses the Hall of Fame campaigns of Fred Taylor and Andruw Jones.
