Iowa punter hesitates, ends up running terrible fake punt play

Iowa is in Columbus on Saturday taking on No. 2 Ohio State. Kirk Ferentz’s team, which has drawn plenty of criticism for its struggles on offense, hasn’t played the Buckeyes since 2017 — a 55-24 win at Kinnick Stadium — and will be looking to pull out all the stops in a game in which they’re massive underdogs.
That said, late in the 1st quarter, a bit of trickery or the Hawkeyes failed miserably. With Iowa spotted near its own 30, the Hawkeyes’ Tory Taylor received the snap at the 15, but instead of punting, he looked to run to complete the 4th-and-6. But, as you, can see below, he was stopped near the 35.
Oh no 😬

The somewhat good news for Iowa: Ohio State was held to just a field goal on the ensuing possession thanks in part to an illegal formation penalty. But if the Hawkeyes are wanting to leave Ohio Stadium with a win, they’re going to need to do much better.
Ohio State leads 16-7 after 1 quarter of play.
