Jackson Arnold met with reporters on Baton Rouge on Saturday night following Oklahoma’s 37-17 loss to the Tigers.
It was a deflating way for OU’s regular season to end, particularly after beating Alabama last week. OU was competitive in the first half against LSU, but didn’t manage to score in the second half. It was the third time this season that OU has been shutout in the second half of a game.
It brought closure to an up-and-down season for Arnold. After being benched midway through the season, Arnold re-claimed the starting job in October and helped bring Oklahoma to bowl eligibility. Still, his future is in doubt given Oklahoma’s mid-season offensive coordinator change and his struggles throughout the year.
When asked about his plans moving forward by reporters on Saturday night, Arnold said he would take some time to figure out his next steps.
“Only God knows what’s going to happen in the future,” Arnold said. “This next week, I’ll meet with OC, see who we hire, take it day by day. But there’s nothing making me want to leave and nothing making me waver from being here.”

Oklahoma is expected to make an offensive coordinator hire in the coming days.
Arnold finished the 2024 season with 1,421 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He averaged 5.8 yards per attempt, which ranked last amongst qualified SEC quarterbacks.
