Jacquez Jones’ availability for Kentucky-Tennessee game updated by Mark Stoops

Jacquez Jones hasn’t played for Kentucky since leaving the Wildcats’ game against Ole Miss on Oct. 1 with a left foot injury. With the Wildcats having dropped a decision against South Carolina before a win vs. Mississippi State, they are coming off a bye week ahead of a trip to No. 3 Tennessee on Saturday.
During his radio show on Monday, Mark Stoops responded to a caller asking about Jones’ status, with the Kentucky head coach ruling the linebacker out against the Volunteers. What’s more, it’s not likely Jones will be available for the Nov. 5 game against Missouri, either, per Stoops.
Jones, a former Ole Miss player, joined Kentucky in 2021 and was the team’s leading tackler with 86, opting to return in 2022 rather than declare for the NFL Draft. Prior to his injury, he had 31 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, and an interception.
Kickoff between the Wildcats and Vols from Neyland Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN.
Caller to Mark Stoops' radio show asks about LB Jacquez Jones. Stoops says there's a chance he will play later in the year. But out this week and more than likely next week. He'll update the situation later this season.
