Clowney played at South Carolina from 2011-to-2013 and had his No. 7 jersey retired by the Gamecocks in 2022. He was selected No. 1 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
Clowney spent the first 5 seasons of his professional career in Houston. He made the Pro Bowl 3 times, also earning second-team All-Pro recognition in 2016.
On March 4, 2019, the Texans placed the franchise tag on Clowney. A few months later, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2019 season.
Clowney spent 1 season with the Seahawks before signing with the Tennessee Titans. Ahead of the 2021 season, Clowney signed with the Cleveland Browns and then re-signed for 2022.
In his pro career, Clowney has 320 tackles, 43 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in 109 regular-season games (98 starts). He’s coming off a 2022 season in which he recorded 28 tackles and 4 sacks in 12 games. Clowney missed 5 games last season due to injuries.
