Jahmyr Gibbs turned out the lights on any Arkansas comeback hopes with a highlight-reel run early in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game.

Gibbs, Alabama’s No. 1 running back, ran 72 yards for a touchdown as he turned on the jets and then jogged the last 20 or so yards to give Alabama a 42-23 lead over Arkansas. That gave Gibbs 16 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown.

Gibbs’ run cushioned the Alabama lead after the Crimson Tide already scored on a Jase McClellan run to stem the Arkansas momentum. Previously, Arkansas had cut the deficit to 28-23 before Alabama answered.

Gibbs nearly doubled his rushing output for the season in this single game, as he came into Saturday with just 172 rushing yards, and without a touchdown on the ground.

Gibbs also added 2 catches for 20 yards, as that was previously where he was most dangerous. He came into Saturday with 17 catches for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns.
