Jake Not Fromm State Farm? Fans, media react to Jake Fromm’s choice of new career in insurance
There are some things in life you set and forget. The same applies to the sports industry. Whether it’s Mike Evans reaching 1,000 yards in an NFL season or Josh Allen losing to Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs (too soon?), we have certainties in this world. Yesterday, one of those apparent certainties became anything but.
Former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm spent parts of five seasons in the NFL. After the Detroit Lions released him in April, he began pursuing a new career path: insurance.
Tuesday afternoon, he landed a job with Sterling Seacrest Pritchard as a Client Advisor.
Folks across the country, particularly in the Peach State and western New York — where Fromm began his NFL career as a fifth-round pick (No. 167 overall) for the Buffalo Bills in 2020 — are happy Fromm found his footing post-football. At the same time, they’re dumbfounded that State Farm failed to capitalize on a potential “Jake Fromm State Farm” ad campaign.
Here’s some of that reaction from social media:
The pain hurts even more when you consider Fromm would have sported Georgia colors at State Farm. The guy’s Twitter/X name is “JakeFromStateFromm” for crying out loud!
Whether Fromm will be changing his Twitter/X name or not remains to be seen. Here’s hoping we can all at least hold on to that as a reminder of what could have been.
