Florida’s dominance of Florida State continues as Gators flip Seminole commit Jake Slaughter

It’s always nice when your school picks up a commitment heading into the weekend but it’s much sweeter when that commitment comes from a prospect that flips from a rival program.
That’s what Gator fans will have to celebrate this weekend as Ocala, Fla., native Jake Slaughter has flipped his commitment from Florida State to Florida.
“After hours of thoughts, prayers, and talks with family and friends, I will be decommitting from Florida State University and committing to the University of Florida,” Slaughter posted on Friday. “I wish nothing but the best for Florida State football, but I’ve always known I was a Gator and I’m happy to say that I’m staying home!”
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Trinity Catholic product is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 9 center prospect and a top 100 overall player from the state of Florida in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Following this news, Florida now holds commitments from 22 prospects in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The class currently ranks as the No. 10 class in the nation and the No. 4 class in the SEC.
