Due to the quirks of 2020, college football does not this Saturday all to itself. Two NFL games will also be played this Saturday. The Philadelphia Eagles, however, are part of the Sunday slate which gives Jalen Hurts time to enjoy Championship Saturday.
Hurts tweeted “ROLL SOONERS” to cheer on his two former teams. Alabama takes on Florida in Atlanta for the SEC Championship. Hurts was the Crimson Tide starting quarterback the last time UA faced UF. As a true freshman, Hurts went 11-of-20 passing for 138 yards and a touchdown. Hurts’ more memorable SEC Championship Game came in 2018 when he came off the bench and led Alabama to a come-from-behind victory over Georgia. Hurts was 7-of-9 passing for 82 yards and a touchdown and ran 5 times for 28 yards and another TD.
Last year, Hurts led Oklahoma to a 30-23 overtime win over Baylor in the Big 12 Championship Game. Hurts was 17-of-24 passing for 287 yards, a TD and an interception. Oklahoma takes on No. 6 Iowa State for this year’s Big 12 title.
Hurts is now the starting QB in Philadelphia, taking over for Carson Wentz. The Eagles topped the Saints 24-21. Philly faces the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.
