Former LSU safety Jamal Adams is fast.
We knew that because we’ve watched him play three years, but his blazing 4.38 40-time at LSU’s Pro Day certainly turned heads.

While Mayock reported a 4.38 time, others had Adams running a 4.33. Here’s video:

At the NFL Combine, Adams ran a 4.56 40, which, by his standards, wasn’t great; however, he followed that up nicely at Pro Day, cutting off .18 seconds. Sure, there’s probably a little fudge in that number, but NFL Network’s Mike Mayock is the one who reported the time.
Obviously, Adams was already a projected top 15 pick, and this will do nothing but bolster that projection. Interestingly, at this point in the draft process, it would be tough to do anything to even improve his projection, but somehow, he’s managed to do that with a faster 40-time.
For the last three years, we’ve been saying Adams is going to be a great NFL safety. Not only is he quick with solid cover skills, but the guy can tackle and has incredible instincts. He’s fearless and plays with an edge in the running game, and NFL coaches love that.
Interestingly, the Jaguars are looking at Adams for the No. 4 overall pick.
While Leonard Fournette’s weight appeared to be the biggest story out of LSU’s Pro Day, Adams’ fast 40-time is the second.
