Ja’Marr Chase made NFL history in Cincinnati’s win over Pittsburgh on Saturday night.

The former LSU star because the first player ever with at least 1,700 yards and 17 receiving touchdowns in a season. He finished the regular season with 1,708 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

Chase is 1 of 15 players all-time to record at least 17 receiving touchdowns in a single campaign. Previously, the highest yardage total from anyone in that group was Randy Moss, who totaled 1,632 yards back in 2003 when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

He’s the first player to rack up at least 17 receiving scores since Davante Adams accomplished that feat with the Green Bay Packers back in 2020.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the NFL now plays 17-game seasons after using a 16-game format for much of its history. Still, only 3 other players ever accomplished 1,600-yard, 16-touchdown campaigns: Moss, Calvin Johnson and Cooper Kupp.

Chase has long established himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL. In just 4 NFL seasons, he’s already amassed 395 receptions, 5,425 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns.

Chase and the Bengals will need help in order to make the postseason, however. They went 9-8 during the regular season and thus will need losses from the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins on Sunday in order to qualify for the playoffs.
