James Cook is now part of an exclusive club of Buffalo Bills.
In the first half of the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Cook scored a rushing touchdown.
The touchdown was Cook’s 20th of the year combining regular season and postseason. It’s the most for a Bill since O.J. Simpson scored 23 TDs in 1975. Fans will be watching closely to see if he inches closer to overtaking that mark with more scores in the 2nd half and potentially in the Super Bowl if the Bills can pull off a comeback win.
In regular-season action, Cook had 207 carries for 1,009 rushing yards and a career-high 16 scores. He added 32 catches for 258 yards and 2 TDs.
It marked back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Cook’s young career. A second-round pick out of Georgia in 2022, Cook has completed 3 professional seasons. He had a career year in 2023, logging 237 carries for 1,122 yards.
Cook entered Sunday’s showdown with 40 carries for 187 yards and 1 touchdown this postseson. He also had 3 catches for 15 yards.
In the 1st half Sunday, Cook had 4 carries for 23 yards and the touchdown. He also had 1 catch for 17 yards during the first 2 quarters.
The game is airing on CBS.
