Texas A&M freshman running back Jay Bradford won’t make the 105-man roster due to health reasons. The family has requested privacy on the matter.

“The health and well-being of Jay is the only thing that matters,” A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said Monday, via the Houston Chronicle. “He is still part of our team but just unable to participate in preseason drills. Jay and his family know that they can depend on us through this process.”

The Splendora, Texas, native is a former four-star prospect in the Aggies’ class of 2015, and he’s a speedster, boasting high school track titles in both the long jump and the 100 meters.

Tra Carson is the Aggies’ top back returning, and because Bradford won’t be available, Texas A&M may need Brandon Williams to take more carries than anticipated. Williams will play cornerback this season, too.
