Jaydn Ott’s placement on Oklahoma’s Week 1 depth chart has fans asking questions

Oklahoma released its first depth chart of the season on Monday ahead of its Week 1 game against Illinois State.
The depth chart has former Cal running back Jaydn Ott listed as OU’s No. 3 running back, leaving some fans asking questions about why the Sooners’ star transfer addition is so far down the depth char.
Here’s some of that reaction on social media:
Ott was electric as a freshman and sophomore but missed most of last season due to injury. His sophomore season proved what he is capable of, with 1,305 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 245 total carries, which equated to an average of 5.3 yards per carry.
According to Sooner Scoop’s Georgia Stoia, one key reason Ott seems to be this low on the depth chart might be that he has been dealing with injuries during training camp. The Sooners play Michigan in Week 2, so this might be a way to make sure he is ready as much as possible by then.
Oklahoma fans are fired up for a make-or-break season this year under Brent Venables. Venables has had a bumpy road in Norman so far. He has a 22-17 record as a head coach for the Sooners, highlighted by a 10-3 record in his second year, but it is sandwiched between two 6-7 campaigns.
