Jeremiah Cobb caps long drive with TD run, extends Auburn’s lead at Baylor
Jeremiah Cobb got in on the act to close out Auburn’s 9-play, 71-yard drive in the third quarter that gave the Tigers some temporary breathing room.
The junior from Montgomery plunged in from 2 yards out for a touchdown that put Auburn up 24-10 with 5:40 left in the third. At that moment, Tigers quarterback Jackson Arnold, making his much-anticipated Auburn debut, had exactly 99 yards passing and 99 yards rushing in a dual-threat showcase on national TV in Waco.
Suddenly, Auburn was up 2 touchdowns at Baylor in the FOX Friday night showcase game, and Tigers fans could breathe a sigh of relief. The relief was fleeting as Baylor answered Cobb’s TD with a touchdown drive of its own, cutting the Tigers’ lead back to 7 as the third quarter ended.
