Jim Chaney has the perfect response when asked about massive salaries recently given to coordinators
LSU turned heads this week with the reported contract details given out to keep defensive coordinator Dave Aranda in Baton Rouge. While many would agree that he may be the best coordinator in the nation, some took issue with the massive four-year, $10 million guaranteed contract he landed from the school.
Of course, LSU felt obligated to offer that contract to Aranda as Texas A&M wanted to lure the Tiger DC to College Station. While the Aggies failed to land their top candidate, the school soon announced it had lured away Notre Dame coordinator Mike Elko.
To pull that coup, Texas A&M had to offer Eklo a deal reportedly worth $1.8 million annually.
Given all the success Georgia has had this season, offensive coordinator Jim Chaney was a natural choice to ask about the raising salaries of coordinators around the SEC. During his Saturday media availability, Chaney was asked about the salaries by Seth Emerson of Dawg Nation. His response was pretty great:
Georgia OC Jim Chaney when asked about college coordinators now being paid $2 million a year: "I think that's a hell of a good idea."
