Jim McElwain was among the first coaches to speak during the SEC’s weekly media teleconference Wednesday. During his segment of the call, McElwain discussed the huge opening season game in Arlington, as well as the season opening matchup against the Wolverines.
The Florida-Michigan game kicks off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
Here are the highlights from McElwain’s call:
- Our guys are looking forward to the opportunity, playing in a great venue against a top opponent.
- One or two things that you’ve learned from Saban: What an unbelievable opportunity that was, not a day goes by that I don’t think about what I learned there. The overall organization structure was big for me.
- Thoughts on Michigan’s lack of depth chart or roster, any difficulties there? No, that’s not something we really even look at. It’s not really about the opponent as much as your preparation. We are well aware of the players they recruited. They will probably have 11 out there.
- Jordan Scarlett says he’s the best back: Yeah, I love that. You want everyone to have that attitude. They want the ball in their hands at the buzzer. He’s come a long ways as a back. He’s a three-down back, we expect big things from him.
