Jimbo Fisher eager to get back into coaching: ‘I’d like to get back out there’
Jimbo Fisher may not be done coaching.
Despite landing a broadcasting gig this offseason, the former Texas A&M and Florida State head coach recently said on the Trials to Triumph podcast that he’d be interested in getting back to the sidelines at some point.
“If the right situation comes along and it’s right,” Fisher said. “I’m still 59. I’m still in great shape. I’m healthy. I’ve had success everywhere we’ve been. At the end with A&M, it’s unfortunate, but we also had the highest-ranked team they’ve ever had there in 2020.”
Fisher said he misses the relationships he formed with players and said he thinks he still has more to offer the game.
“I would be very interested in still doing it,” Fisher added. “I think I’ve still got a lot to give and I’d like to get back out there. I really would.”

Fisher spent the 2024 season out of coaching and is set to be off for the 2025 campaign as well. However, he will have a role with the ACC Network this fall. Fisher would be far from the first coach who turned a brief media career into another head coaching opportunity. Just this past offseason, former Florida coach Dan Mullen left ESPN to take the head coaching job at UNLV.
Fisher has 14 seasons under his belt as a college football head coach. He owns a winning percentage of 72.7% across his head coaching career and helped lead FSU to the 2013 National Championship.
