Jimbo Fisher likes what he sees from Max Johnson in terms of improvement for the Texas A&M starting quarterback, and identified several areas where Johnson helps the Aggies.

“He’s come in and has a lot of experience,” Fisher said Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “… He’s taking care of the football really well and making big plays when he need to. … People don’t realize he can run and make plays with his legs, too. … He’s getting better and better each week.”

On the other side this week is Will Rogers and Mississippi State.

“First of all, he has a great grasp of it,” Fisher said. “He knows where he’s going with the football, great decision maker. He’s very accurate with the football. … He has great pocket presence.”

While the Bulldogs and Mike Leach get a lot of attention for the unique offense, the plays in it are almost universal.

“Air Raid is a certain set of plays they run,” Fisher said. “A lot of people run them. There’s not a lot of deviation from that thing. They’ll adjust and make calls as they go. All the routes, in some way, shape and form, we have them. They just stay to them exclusively, but everyone has those routes.”
