Jimbo Fisher is facing a myriad of issues as Texas A&M is in the middle of a sub-par season.

On the SEC coaches media teleconference, Fisher was asked how the difficult season is weighing on recruiting.

“Our recruits have been very good,” he said. “They see the opportunity, they see we’re playing a lot of young guys who are doing a really good job. … Our guys are practicing really hard and playing hard. As far as our recruits, the guys have been really good.”

Fisher then identified what went wrong.

“We haven’t executed at some critical times with what we’re doing. It’s as simple as that,” Fisher said.

The one piece of silver lining is the promise of Conner Weigman, and his development since he got his first start last week in the loss to Ole Miss.

“From the beginning of the year at practices. … We told him to prepare as if he was the starter. … He practiced and got better each week. … When he got his opportunity, he played really well.”

With a history of coaching at Auburn, Fisher was asked about the current opening on The Plains.

“Auburn’s a very good job, had some tremendous teams,” he said. “… I loved living there, it was a great place, very good people. … It’s got great tradition, great history, a great place.”
