Alabama cruised to a comfortable victory over Texas A&M on Sunday to win its 2nd SEC Tournament in 3 seasons.

The Crimson Tide entered the day as the No. 1 seed in South Region in the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. Kansas remained slotted as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest, and No. 1 seed overall, regardless of its 20-point loss to Texas in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday.

According to Lunardi, the Tide are now projected to be the No. 1 overall seed in the field. That update came after Nate Oats’ team held up its end of the bargain with an 82-63 win over the Aggies at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

If Lunardi’s projection holds — and the likelihood of that is very high — this will be the first time in the history of the Alabama men’s basketball program the Tide has been a No. 1 seed. They’re in the field for a 3rd straight time and are 2 seasons removed from the program’s 1st trip to the Sweet 16 since 2004.
