Joel Klatt feels Alabama is a “sleeper team” to make the College Football Playoff in 2023.
The FOX Sports lead college football game analyst admitted that the Crimson Tide were an “obvious” choice to get to the Playoff, but he had a good reason for calling them a “sleeper” given their overwhelming success under Nick Saban’s watch.
“The way that they played in 2 weeks in September, everyone wrote them off,” Klatt said, referring to the Tide’s 34-24 loss to Texas and 10-3 win over South Florida. “Now, you can roll your eyes if you want, but Alabama is, at this point, going to be in my sleeper teams because of the fact I just mentioned.”
Klatt mentioned that the Tide have “found a bit of a rhythm” while finding different ways to win: a ground-based game against Ole Miss, and primarily through the air against Texas A&M while struggling to run the football.
“Watch out,” Klatt warned. “It’s not a great division, but 1 thing I do know is that Nick Saban will find a way to win.”
