Joel Klatt goes on bizarre rant against AP Top 25 voters

Joel Klatt is upset with AP voters over the latest AP Top 25.

Klatt referenced the new poll, released Sunday, on his Monday show. He was discussing the Texas-Michigan game when looking at the Wolverines’ remaining schedule. The defending national champions are set to tangle with Big Ten newcomer USC later this month.

USC is ranked No. 11 in the latest AP Top 25. Klatt is upset that the Trojans are not ranked inside the top 10.

“The AP voters are terrible. They just move them up and down,” Klatt said. “I’m sorry if you have an AP vote and you’re listening to this; I love you, I love your passion for the sport, [but] give me a break with what you gave us in the AP Poll. That was terrible.

“Tennessee and USC are clearly two of the best top-10 teams in the country, and so that’s where they should be. And you don’t have them there. And I think that that’s garbage. Miami, as well. Miami as well.”

Tennessee and Miami are top-10 teams in the latest AP poll. The Vols are No. 7 while the Hurricanes are No. 10. Klatt had Miami, Tennessee and USC ranked 5-6-7 in his own top 10 posted on social media Sunday. The 3 teams make up Nos. 7, 10 and 11 in the AP Top 25.

The AP Top 25 is open to plenty of criticism, but blasting 63 voters over USC not being ranked No. 10 when the Trojans are No. 11 is a bit much for Week 2 of the season. It’s also strange that he called out the voters over Tennessee and Miami needing to be in the top 10, when both are top-10 teams in the latest poll.
