Joel Klatt is gearing up for the 2025 college football season, and he is ready to name his top quarterbacks in the country for the year ahead.
Klatt unveiled his full list on Monday, and Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik took the top spot. That mirrors the top spot in Greg McElroy’s list of the top QBs in the country, but Klatt took a key difference after that.
Though McElroy confirmed he was hesitant to include Texas QB Arch Manning before his first full season as a starter, Klatt had no such issues. In fact, Klatt has Manning as his No. 2 QB, even ahead of proven starters such as Garrett Nussmeier, Sam Leavitt and John Mateer.
The differing opinions of Klatt and McElroy highlight what will be the polarizing nature of Manning’s first full season as the starter for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns. That storyline in Austin will also be one of the top storylines in all of college football.
Overall, Klatt included 5 SEC QBs, headlined by Manning and including a conference newcomer. Former Georgia starter Carson Beck, now at Miami, also cracks the list.
Here are the SEC stars on Klatt’s list:
- No. 2 — Arch Manning, Texas
- No. 3 — John Mateer, Oklahoma
- No. 6 — Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
- No. 7 — DJ Lagway, Florida
- No. 8 — LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
