Week 8 of the college football season has some great matchups as we are starting to top teams start to separate themselves from the rest of the group. The games are getting bigger each week, and starting to get to the point where the loser of these big matchups may be on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff.
The SEC has some big games this weekend, with the matchup between LSU and Vanderbilt one of the biggest. Both teams have one loss this season. LSU lost at Ole Miss, while the Commodores’ lone loss was at Alabama.
Vanderbilt enters a matchup of ranked SEC teams as a slight favorite, which is something that Joel Klatt said hasn’t happened in quite some time.
“We don’t see this often,” Klatt said on The Joel Klatt Show. “In fact, maybe ever. I don’t think there’s any game that I can think of. We asked our research department, and they’re like, ‘We went back to the 1970s and can’t find a game in a ranked matchup that Vanderbilt was favored.'”
While the Commodores are the favorite in the game, Klatt sees the road underdog LSU getting the win.
“A loss to Vanderbilt on the road in a ranked matchup would not be a good look,” Klatt said. “Again, Vanderbilt is favored by 2.5. I like LSU. The matchup, to me, is good for LSU because of their athleticism on defense. LSU wins this one, 20-17.”
The winner of this game will take a big step forward in the race to the College Football Playoff, and Nashville figures to be rocking for this game. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET and the game will be on ABC.
