Joel Klatt is gearing up for the start of the college football season like fans all across the country are.

The FOX analyst has been making predictions all across college football on The Joel Klatt Show. One of those predictions was what dark horse team from the SEC could make the CFP, and his answer is sure to make fans happy in Columbia, Missouri.

“My pick in the SEC to come from nowhere and go [to the Playoff] is Missouri,” Klatt said. “It’s Missouri. They have been highly successful over the last couple of years. They have recruited well. Drinkwitz has a culture at Missouri. I am a fan of Beau Pribula. I know they haven’t settled on a quarterback yet, but I saw him at Penn State. It was hard for them to keep him off the field at Penn State.”

The Tigers are definitely on the rise, as they have won 10 games in the last two seasons under Eli Drinkwitz. One other reason why Klatt likes Missouri is that he believes they hit the ‘schedule lottery’.

“This is the problem with the SEC only playing 8 conference games, is the disparity between schedules is far greater than other conferences,” Klatt said. “They hit the schedule lottery. These are teams not on Missouri’s schedule; Texas, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee. The only school to have six home games to start the year? Missouri. Toughest games are Alabama, South Carolina and Texas A&M…. they are all at home.”

If you agree with Klatt, FanDuel has Mizzou priced at +790 to reach the Playoff this year. Fans in Missouri will soon be able to bet on sports legally, so here’s a FanDuel Missouri promo to use on launch day.

Figuring out who is going to be the starting quarterback for the Tigers is definitely something Drinkwitz needs to settle on, but the recipe is there for Missouri. The Tigers should be a very good defensive team, as they have been very good on that side of the ball the last two seasons.

Missouri gets the season started on August 28 as the Tigers host Central Arkansas.
