Joey Galloway and Kirk Herbstreit are on the Texas hype train.

The Longhorns fell to Florida 29-21 on Oct. 4. That put them at 3-2 and raised questions about whether they’d be good enough to make a 3rd straight College Football Playoff appearance — and if Arch Manning was good enough, period.

That talk has been silenced. Texas has won 4 in a row and is squarely back in the Playoff discussion after a 34-31 victory over Vanderbilt in Week 11.

“Texas came in with an attitude in this one,” Herbstreit said on his “Nonstop” podcast he hosts with Galloway each week.

“Their front four were amazing,” Galloway said.

Galloway and Herbstreit spotlighted several “big plays” the Longhorns made against the Commodores, including Manning’s screen pass to Ryan Wingo that the Texas wide receiver took 75 yards to the house on the opening play from scrimmage. It speaks to Texas’s skill players being able to make chunk plays out of essentially nothing, Galloway noted.

“Arch Manning had a terrific game … (but) look at how short the passes are, and then what happens afterwards,” Galloway said. “This is what we expected their playmakers to be.”

“This is who we thought we’d see in Columbus Week One (against Ohio State),” Herbstreit added.

With Georgia and Texas A&M looming, Steve Sarkisian‘s team could strengthen its case even further.

“This Texas team looks scary,” Galloway said.
