After ruling college basketball recruiting for many years during his Kentucky tenure, John Calipari has been matched in recent seasons on the recruiting trail by Duke and Coach K. The latest example came last recruiting cycle when Zion Williamson picked Duke over Kentucky and Kansas, among others.

During a recent appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show,” the Kentucky coach admitted he may have misevaluated the South Carolina prep star coming out of high school. Calipari also speculated on how much money Nike is planning to offer Williamson, should he turn pro in the coming days.

“We recruited Zion. I probably missed him a little bit. I knew he was going to be good, I didn’t know he was going to be this good,” Calipari said during his appearance on the show.
