Mississippi State lands commitment from state’s highest-ranked linebacker John Lewis
We are just over a week away from the start of the Early Signing Period (which begins Dec. 16) and Mississippi State just picked up a big commitment to give the program some momentum heading into the signing period as the state’s top linebacker just pledged to join Mike Leach’s Bulldog program.
On Tuesday morning, four-star prospect John Lewis announced his commitment to Mississippi State with the following message.
“I am 1000% committed to MSU and I will be signing next week on Wednesday, thanks from the man above to give me this opportunity to be able to showcase my skills and talents that he have given & thanks s @RGibsonMSU @Coach_MBrock 🙏🏽 ,” Lewis tweeted.
The Germantown High School standout from Madison, Miss., is rated as the No. 5 overall prospect from Mississippi and the No. 17 outside linebacker in the nation in the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Lewis’ decision to join the Bulldogs now gives the program four commitments from prospects rated as four-star recruits.
The latest Mississippi State recruiting class now stands at 18 total commitments and rates as the No. 9 class in the SEC for the 2021 recruiting cycle.
In addition to this news, athlete MJ Daniels, a former Ole Miss commit that has since flipped his pledge to the Bulldogs, announced on Tuesday that his recruitment is “closed” and his commitment to Mississippi State is firm. Daniels is the highest-rated three-star committed in Mississippi State’s recruiting class.
