Former Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor had his domestic violence charge dropped as part of a plea agreement, according to The Tuscaloosa News. He did plead guilty to misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Taylor was originally arrested March 28 after his girlfriend said he injured her neck. Following his arrest, Taylor was dismissed at Alabama by Nick Saban.

His girlfriend then said she made up the story two days later, and she was charged with false reporting to law enforcement for fabricating the stories.

Taylor was originally dismissed from Georgia after he was charged with felony aggravated assault and family violence. He then went to JUCO before he ended up at Alabama.

Just this spring — and partly because of Taylor — the SEC passed a rule that schools can’t take transfers with past “serious misconduct” issues. The SEC defined “serious misconduct” as sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence.

Taylor will be required to pay restitution and court costs and take anger management classes as part of his plea agreement.
