Jonte Newman, 2025 OL out of Texas, names SEC-heavy top 8

Jonte Newman’s recruitment is picking up. The 2025 lineman from Cypress, Texas is showing a strong interest in playing in the SEC.
Newman revealed his current top 8 teams on Tuesday via social media. Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M all made the cut. Houston, TCU and USC are also currently in the mix.

On X (formerly Twitter), Newman lists his current measurements as 6-6 and 290 pounds. The Bridgeland standout is rated 3-stars, the No. 22 interior offensive lineman, No. 56 recruit in the Lone Star State and No. 370 prospect overall in the Class of 2025 on the 247Sports Composite. Mizzou, Baylor, Cal, Kansas and Texas Tech are among the other programs that expressed interest in Newman.
