Josh Dobbs’ future with Cardinals in question as head coach shares telling Kyler Murray update

Josh Dobbs filled in as the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals as Kyler Murray recovered from a torn ACL suffered last season.
Murray remains on the PUP list despite nearing a return to the field with Dobbs and the Cardinals losing 31-24 to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Dobbs threw for 2 touchdowns, ran for a 3rd, and totaled 208 yards passing despite a pair of interceptions.
The Cardinals haven’t made a determination as to who will start in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, but it won’t be Dobbs. Head coach Jonathan Gannon on Monday stated that either Murray or rookie Clayton Tune, a 5th-round draft pick from Houston, will get the call:
“If it’s not Kyler, it’s Clayton Tune.”

That appears to put Dobbs’ future with the Cardinals in question. Making things even more interesting is the fact that the NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Could Dobbs be on the way out?
If Dobbs has indeed thrown his last pass for the Cards, the stay will have been a short one. He was traded by the Browns to the desert in the offseason. Through 8 games, he totaled 1,569 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions through the air while rushing for 258 yards and 3 TDs on 47 carries. The Cardinals are currently 1-7.
